Press release : SAIT: a new name for SAIT Zenitel

Helping you to access, communicate and store your sensitive data in complete security … since 1913 !

Zellik, 06/09/2013 - Specialist in integrated ICT solutions and communication systems; SAIT fosters data mobility by developing connectivity – both indoor and outdoor – for wireless networks, while guaranteeing the confidentiality of your internal and external communications. The storage and safeguarding of your sensitive data ensures the highest degree of protection for your information and applications. This in turn enhances the protection of your staff and your work facilities.

Initiated by a group of Belgian entrepreneurs, SAIT’s hundred-year history[1] began in 1913 with the development of a solution to facilitate marine communication. Through a series of fusions and acquisitions, the company rapidly expanded, not only in the maritime sector, but also into the field of private enterprise and public institutions. SAIT Zenitel soon confirmed themselves as globally recognized providers of secure communications systems to security services and multinationals. Today, SAIT continues to concentrate on the development of secure data applications, with a significant portfolio of security measures and ICT solutions. By intelligently combining tailored wireless solutions with information and security applications and services, the company offers a triple advantage: heightened mobility and connectivity, considerable flexibility within a constantly evolving environment and a significant risk reduction in an increasingly dangerous world.

The basic processes of client companies and organizations are integrated into a single network. Their sensitive data is then stored within a central databank from which it is usually accessed and transmitted via wireless communication systems. In such an environment, it is vital that the solutions implemented improve mobility while completely securing critical information in the context of a fully coherent and flexible ICT architecture.

SAIT solutions and services enjoy the entire confidence of a wide range of clients from all over the world.

A hundred years ago, the Titanic was sinking inexorably below the waves, yet a nearby ship failed to come to the great liner’s aid for want of the communications material necessary to receive her distress message. This tragic event inspired maritime authorities to equip all vessels with a system for radio communication. Since that day, SAIT ensures the viability of equipment and applications directing port operations, whether maritime traffic, information, data or security systems, on some 55 coastal sites.

In addition, SAIT secures the internal communications (both indoor and outdoor) of hazardous facilities, dangerous manufacturing processes and SEVESO classified enterprises, such as BP Chembel, Air Liquide or BASF, whose security requirements and standards are particularly stringent.

SAIT is also a leader in the provision of communications systems for areas lacking classic communications options, or restricted access zones such as underground facilities and subways, as well as for commercial complexes and multi story garages. Other installations feature in various European Commission buildings, or even the UMCU (Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht) with its 35 buildings under a single umbrella system[1], as well as in Belgian and overseas Airports requiring “indoor” systems.

Since last year, a vehicle number plate identification system has been smoothly implemented[2] in the Belgian city of Mechelen as an effective tool for policing as well as for emergency and security services. The monitoring and control systems managing access to Belgacom facilities and EU commission buildings also carry the SAIT label.

Traditional ICT applications, as well as managed services, are on tap for the ongoing provision of solutions. This is the task of the company’s third and youngest department. Each department (wireless communication – security – ICT) is autonomous, while collaborating fully with the others, thus letting us offer full-service solutions. Such projects have included brands as familiar as Alken Maes, Kraft Foods, VITO and many other clients who have come to us for help in networking, servers, storage, back-up, firewalling, etc.

In the words of Alain Van den Broeck, SAIT’s Managing Director: “After a century, SAIT is still on the technological leading edge, thanks significantly to a clear company vision and realistic timetables for market implementation. We are also fortunate to be able to count on the input of a competent and experienced team to nourish the development of our tailored wireless and security solutions with ever more innovative ICT applications. This is how we are able to guarantee the secure transmission and storage of sensitive information for our clients in Belgium and abroad.”

In Belgium, SAIT’s prime areas of activity involve secure radio communications systems for police, manufacturing facilities etc., with regard to the security of urban areas, dispatch centres, building security and site surveillance. Camera networks and vehicle number plate recognition systems are especially appreciated. In the Netherlands, wireless applications are particularly popular. In the months to come, security solutions and the ICT approach will certainly grow in importance.
